The Kite Runner

I am an ardent reader and I need to keep on reading for my mind to work smoothly. I like reading fiction mostly. Oh well because they are delicious food for my mind :D


I recently read, The Kite Runner  by Khaled Hosseini .

It managed to be  a number one New York Times bestseller for over two years and has been adapted in a movie with the same name. There is a thing about Hosseini's writing, they remain with you for a longer time than usual. They are heart touching and pull every string in your heart to make it sing. You may even cry at times while reading the story.

Moving back to review:

It is basically about friendship between two boys , relationship of father-son and how the feeling of guilt can change everything.

It is a great, heart breaking, devastating story that touches all the emotions of friendship, remorse, loyalty and gives an insight of the miserable life of Afghans at post-Taliban arrival.
A story of betrayal and redemption. Oh! it has so all colors of emotion.

The best bit about this novel is the message behind the story, the good wins over the evil, the evil in our head; the hope, the act of redemption!
I would suggest this book to everyone who likes fiction. A must read!!

“There is a way to be good again...”  - That is what I seek. The hope!!

“For you, a thousand times over”   -   Oh the affection with which Hassan says these big words...

“I'm so afraid. Because I'm so profoundly happy. Happiness like this is frightening...They only let you this happy if they're preparing to take something from you.”    - It has to be a woman :D

“It's a funny thing... but people mostly have it backward. They think they live by what they want. But really, what guides them is what they're afraid of. What they don't want.”    - And so we think about those things, we complain the most about!

“A man's heart is a wretched, wretched thing. It isn't like a mother's womb. It won't bleed. It won't stretch to make room for you.”   - How I wish it was untrue.
